Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ are funding specific contraception services for free* to help empower waahine/women+ to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health.
This is in addition to other services that are available in the community through Sexual Health Clinics and Family Planning. Services that are covered under this agreement and free of charge to waahine/women+, includes:
Free appointment time to insert and/or remove either an Implant or IUD device
(this may vary depending on the contraception and/or the provider).
*Services and fees may vary at the discretion of the provider. Please ensure to ask your provider.
Eligible service users are women and non-binary individuals who live and/or enrolled in a general practice within Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau boundary.
To be eligible** for free contraception services funded by the Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ under this agreement, you must meet any one from this criteria from this criteria:
Ask your service provider to see if you are eligible to access funding. If you are not eligible, fees will be determined by the provider.

A Hormonal IUD is a small, T-shaped plastic device, which contains the hormone progestogen to control your fertility. The device is put into the uterus (womb).

A non-hormonal (Copper) IUD is a small, T-shaped plastic device which contains copper. It is put into the uterus (womb). A Copper IUD does not contain hormones. The copper IUD can also be used as an Emergency Contraception.
LASTS FROM 5 TO 10 YEARS | PLACED IN THE UTERUS | EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY | EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION – UP TO 5 DAYS AFTER SEX
