Implant – Jadelle

Two small, flexible plastic rods that are placed just under the skin in the upper arm. The implant releases the hormone progestogen to control fertility.

Hormonal IUD – Mirena | Jaydess

A Hormonal IUD is a small, T-shaped plastic device, which contains the hormone progestogen to control your fertility. The device is put into the uterus (womb).

Non-Hormonal IUD – Copper

A non-hormonal (Copper) IUD is a small, T-shaped plastic device which contains copper. It is put into the uterus (womb). A Copper IUD does not contain hormones. The copper IUD can also be used as an Emergency Contraception.

LASTS FROM 5 TO 10 YEARS | PLACED IN THE UTERUS | EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY | EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION – UP TO 5 DAYS AFTER SEX

Free Contraception Consults &
Fit & Forget Contraception

Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ are funding specific contraception services for free* to help empower waahine/women+ to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health.

This is in addition to other services that are available in the community through Sexual Health Clinics and Family Planning. Services that are covered under this agreement and free of charge to waahine/women+, includes:

Free contraception consultation with a trained healthcare professional to discuss all contraception options for you to choose the best option for you.
Free appointment time to insert and/or remove either an Implant or IUD device (this may vary depending on the contraception and/or the provider).
No costs for either the Implant or IUD device.

*Services and fees may vary at the discretion of the provider. Please ensure to ask your provider.

Who is Eligible?

Eligible service users are women and non-binary individuals who live and/or enrolled in a general practice within Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau boundary.

To be eligible** for free contraception services funded by the Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ under this agreement, you must meet any one from this criteria from this criteria:

Ask your service provider to see if you are eligible to access funding. If you are not eligible, fees will be determined by the provider.

**Eligibility has been defined by Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ. Eligibility and fees will be determined by the provider and may vary at the discretion of the provider. Please ensure to ask your provider prior to your appointment.

Live in quintile
4 or 5 areas

*Includes Maaori & Pacific eligible individuals living in any quintile

Currently or previously engaged with secondary Mental Health & Addiction Services and/or Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS)

Hold a Community
Services Card (CSC)

Undergone a medical or surgical termination of pregnancy within previous six months

Fit & Forget Contraception

Hormonal IUD (Jaydess/Mirena)
